NEW SARAH BURGESS YOU TUBE VIDEO SALUTES THE MOTELS OF EAST COLFAX !!! Sarah's new you tube video ,
[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc_ndS27zPg&feature=channel_page ]" Stop and Stare"
[ kinda like Subterranean Home Sick Blues meets The Monkees ] features the infamous Colfax Avenue's " Sands Motel " sign , and Mars Hall on guitar [ although, I can't remember ever playing this song , it might be some sort of "studio trick" ] . You should get right over to the u-tube and watch it [ she is soooo cute! ]. Well , they've torn down the Sands Motel [and the sign], and as all signs and rumors portend , they'll be tearing down Mars Hall soon, as well.

He's infamous for all of his homemade electronic devices and recording tricks that we all still use today. Legend has it , he was good friends with Buddy Holly's ghost ! Meek also claimed that during one of his midnight recording session in a graveyard , he captured recordings of actual spirit voices !!

Just heard from Ed Phipps, one of my fav guitarist from our band in the eighties, Ed played his guitar with what I like to call "King Tone" and was a real nut to travel with! [ He played under the"Alias " of Skip Town ] The Mississippi Marshall Mauler is still rocking the Southlands and here's a pic to prove it!
Ed has shared the stage with , Jerry Lee Lewis, The Zombies, The Boxtops, The Grass Roots, Ten Years After, Scandal and of course Alias.
To hear some of Ed's tunes visit..http://music.mp3lizard.com/edphipps/ I like"300 Pounds of Heavenly Joy" and "Something Strange". Also , our B2X JUKE BOX is sporting some of Ed's classic tunage from the 80's . Give a listen to "You're Bizzare" and "I Want to Be Your Sex Object", from our "I was a punk before you were a punk" collection !
Might be time for a reunion!!?

Craig from PME writes...Don't You Worry, a song from Sarah Burgess' album "One," is now up on YouTube, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI6jckP3y2w
This was a world record attempt for highest live-performance music video. The people at Guinness turned us down for a new record category because they felt that their current category, World's Highest Concert, was all they were willing to do. Great, but that was just instruments - no singing! And where's the video proof? There isn't any. Probably sounded terrible. Well, Sarah's willing to have a permanent record of her 14,264 foot attempt, and here it is. What you'll be listening to is the unedited first take during July of this year. The Park Rangers had told us not to go up because of the weather, but Sarah would have none of that. She's hardcore, after all.

THEY SAID IT COULDN'T BE DONE, THEY SAID IT SHOULDN'T BE DONE! Let's burn down the boarding house and get rid of all those ugly rumors! With my summer jobs winding down (my paper route and my lifeguard job at the nude hot springs) there has been talk of a possible reunion of the autonomous collective, known as BURNS TWICE! After a one year sabbatical, rehearsals are scheduled to begin soon, and I'll keep you updated! We're actually learning some new tunes, if you have suggestions send them along to burnstwice@yahoo.com!

It is with sadness we note the passing of two of our friends, Greg Schlack and Richard
Bell. Greg was a loyal and true friend of Boulder's music community. He's a photographer (he took all my band pics for 30 years) and as manager of Pro Sound Music, he was famous for opening the store after hours to lend gear to bands, but Greg will be remembered most fondly as Captain Sweat, leader of Boulder's oldest living garage band "The Sweat Brothers. Greg was known to say "Play Loud Play Proud" Back at you...

Burns Twice first met Richard Bell last summer when we opened for Burrito Deluxe, but we have known his music for much longer. As keyboardist with Janice Joplin's Full Tilt Boogie Band, he can be seen in the movie Festival Train hanging with some of rock's greatest legends. His contribution to Burrito Deluxe and their latest album "Disciples of the Truth" was a joy to listen to. As one of rock's true gentlemen, he will be missed.

ROB,CARLTON,AND WALTER

CONGRATULATIONS BURRITO DELUXE!! In Nashville this weekend, our buds in Burrito Deluxe released their latest disc, Disciples of Truth, to rave reviews and sold out crowds!
We got an advance copy this summer and have been listening to it ever since! My favorite tracks are the title track, and Walter Eagen's "On a Roll" is a fave, as is "Wrong Side of Town". It's a great song written by the band, and may strike a little too close to home. Check out their web at www.burritodeluxe.com.

THE LIGHT THAT BURNS HALF AS BRIGHT,BURNS TWICE AS LONG! The Nederland Summertime Festival started out a little bumpy...an errant, not so soft, softball from the "Celebrity Dunk Tank" beaned B2X drummer Robby right above the eyebrow and nearly knocked him out!The dazed drummer shook it off, hopped up on his kit, and rocked! He explained during the show, that not only could he play hurt,[are you listening, Broncos?] that there was "NO CRYING IN SOFTBALL! Things went swimmingly after that, and the menacing clouds melted in a beautiful summer day.Robby's Posse,The Overland Mtn. BLUES PLANET PROJECT BOFFO AT NESSI'S!! Congrats to our friends in Blues Planet Project on their sold out CD release party at the beautiful Nessie's!BPP always sounds great, but with the addition of some excellent backing performers, like blues man Tom Pakele, tracks from the new CD really shine! The crowd loved the band and I loved Nessi's. What a wonderful performance space, with a great sound system.! This room is shaping up to be the premiere showcase for area musicians on the front range!!
Here's the Silo closing article from the Longmont Times Call,[reprinted without the expressed consent or permission of the National League] I'm sorry to report Victoria did not use my quote that Burns Twice was "The Little House Band on the Prairie" You can't win em all....

Marta Torres sweeps a back room in the kitchen area of the Silo restaurant in Longmont on Thursday. The restaurant and bar closed Monday after a mutual decision between the restaurant owner and the property owner.
Silo restaurant closes its doors
Pratt mum about property’s future
By Victoria A.F. Camron
The Daily Times-Call
LONGMONT — The sign on the door says “bigger and better things” will replace the recently shuttered Silo restaurant.
But Pratt Properties, owner of the 5-acre site at Hover Street and the Diagonal Highway, is not ready to disclose what those things are.
And Vijay Mehra, owner of Silo and Hunter’s Restaurant and Pub on Airport Road, said it’s not his place to say.
“It’s a very positive thing,” Mehra said Thursday. Closing Silo on Monday — three years after it opened — was a mutual decision with his landlord, Susan Pratt.
“Susan has been very supportive of me all along,” Mehra said.
Frannie Follick-Hood, spokes
woman for Pratt Properties, said Pratt is working on redevelopment plans, but she declined to elaborate.
“I just want to concentrate on Hunter’s right now,” Mehra said. Some Silo employees, including the chef, already have transferred to Hunter’s, and others will be the first considered when new positions open up, he said.
“I want to officially say ‘thank you’ to Longmont for their support,” Mehra said. Hunter’s will honor all Silo coupons and gift certificates.
Employees have signed their own thank-you card, a notice on Silo’s door. Another sign reads, “Silo wants to thank all our wonderful customers for three great years.”
Burns Twice, a local band that has performed regularly at Silo for about two years, performed Friday night, when employees and customers learned of the sports bar’s demise.
“Everybody was really sad about it,” guitarist Gary Dunn said. But the sorrow didn’t stop the party. “Everybody wanted to go out dancing.”
Silo employees on Friday seemed to think the building would be torn down, Dunn said.
“We’ll miss it,” said Dunn, who lives in Jamestown. “The food was great, which is kind of unusual.”

SILO-A-GO-GO-GOING-GOING-GONE UPDATE....Look for an article about the Silo closing in the Longmont Times Call newspaper this weekend.A reporter called B2X for details on our gig Saturday, seems we were the last band to play the club before closing. Owners promise an exciting announcement about future developments...We'll keep you posted, and keep a eye out for our name in the paper. If it's in an article, let us know,if it's in the Police Notes we probably already know!
ROBO PICS ON BOLDER BOULDER SITE....to check out the B2X bassist playing in traffic at this years race go to www.bolderboulder.com .
As the Silo slowly sinks in the west , we bid a fond farewell to Deb and her band of merry pranksters. We heard Friday, this will be our last Silo gig, with the the club scheduled for the wrecking ball some time in the near future.
Our last night was a blast,a real party on the patio, with crazy dancers, and the last 22 people who still smoke in Colorado. The Silo is our only club in Longtown,so We'll have to get busy and scare up another room to play.
Just a word about Deb and all the fine Silo staff, they always treated us like the rock stars we're not,and in 40 years I've never played a more friendly room! We'll miss everyone!
"AS SEEN ON TV" The B2X boys and our palls from Blues Planet Project had a really fun night at the video production club in the Andolinie's Sport Bar ! On one side is a great sports bar[with killer Italian food] and adjacent is their state-o-the-art video production facility. It's set up like a regular rock club, with a monster JBL sound system, and a concert lighting system, but what sets them apart from all other Colorado clubs is their in house DVD production studio. From their control room, they displayed our performances on giant video screens and dozens of TVs, then were able to give us a DVD of our show,as we walked out the door!! Look for our video to be shown on their Coloradorock show in the near future! We should have clips on our B2X site soon!
Thanks again to Judy Larson at Coloradorock and sound man extraordinary,Brother Bob, Rob Francis,God of Lumens and all the fine folks who cheered us on,like it was Saturday night, not like the"school night" is was! They stayed to the bitter end and were the greatest audience ever!
Also, it was a blast to play with Colorado perennial favorite,Ted Mentry and his great group Blues Planet Project, who previewed tracks from their new CD, that really sounded awesome! Check out the B.P.P. when they debut their CD in its entirety at Nessie's on August 4. Check out their web site www.bluesplanetproject.com for all the details, B2X is on summer vacation that weekend and will be at Nessie's to see the show! P.S. don't be late or you'll miss our buddy blues great Tom Pakele warming up the B.P.P.!
FIRST STREET PUB,FIRST NO SMOKING WEEKEND! It was really nice to play the Pub this last weekend, with the smoking ban in full effect, no one was allowed to smoke inside [except Jessica who is always "smokin"!!] and it made a noticeable difference! The delicious aroma of the Pubs' great food wafted through the room! Smokers enjoyed a beautiful night on the deck and a good time was had by all! Every time we play the First, we always put up a few pics of owner raconteur Jess, and boy howdy do our web hits soar! Check out the "new gig pics page for the latest installment of our "we love Jessica" tribute!"
Luna Chica Records CD release party for Burrito Deluxe's new CD "Disciples of the Truth", turned into one greatest high country hootenannys I have ever attended!!! Thanks to Paige Coffrin for letting Burns Twice warm up the 'Burritos"! [It was also Paige's 55 birthday, one he won't soon remember!] Set atop beautiful Sugarloaf Mtn,over looking Boulder,Paige's deck has been the scene for some great concerts,[like Lyle Lovitt,Criss Izaak,Bruce Hornsby,Neil Finn,Burrito Deluxe, with Sneaky Pete and Garth Hudson] but this night topped them all!
Special thanks must go out Audio Denver,FOH soundman extraordinary,Mark, who had worked Red Rocks the day before the party [your average 17 hour day] and faced piles of trials with smiles, like 5 rain showers that douched everything and everybody.Roby and I had known Mark from 20 years ago, when our bands,Alias and Kyte thundered across the Midwest in the turbulent 80's frightening children and farmers alike. He set up a concert size PA, and the sound was flawless!
Craig from PME Records did a 24 track digital recording of both bands[ audio clips of the show will soon be available on his site www.pmerecords.com] ,and Bill from Creative Head Space set up his amazing multi-media light show extravaganza,to the delight all!
The Crowd was an interesting mix of locals, Nashville luminaries and music industry people who quickly let their hair down and danced the night away. The clothing optional swimming pool seemed to be of great interest to the Burritos, who I am sure, all have stiff necks on their flights back to Nashville!
The Burritos are sporting a line up of Nashville's finest, like guitarist Walter Egan of "Magnet and Steel fame[Roby's favorite song!] Walter has also worked with Linda Ronstadt,Jackson Brown, and many others. Newest Burrito, drummer Bryan Owings played with Delbert Mclinton,The Amazing Rhythm Aces, and adds a solid beat to the Burritos new sound.
Richard Bell joins the band on keyboards, replacing Garth Hudson. Richard is renown for playing in Janis Joplin's Full Tilt Boogie Band,The Band, Bonnie Rait and Paul Butterfield!Check out the documentary"Festival Train" and look for Richard and Janis playing in the bar car of the train!
Jeff "Stick" Davis [The Amazing Rhythm Aces] returns to hold down the bottom. Multiple Grammy nominee and Grand Ole Opry performer Carlton Moody brings his rich country vocal stylings, mandolin and guitar playing to round out this versatile group.
The new CD"Disciples of the Truth" has catchy country tunes with great hooks and heart felt sentiments. What a honer to meet all these guys. They really know how to put on a show and couldn't have been more gracious to their fans! Pics are up on our New Gig Photos page,so check out the fun party pics! PS Check out their site at www.burritodeluxe.com there are some great road stories, like the one with Stick and Zena the Warrior Princess!!

It's with a heavy heart that we note the passing of Rob's beloved mother,Erma Jean. She touched everyone's soul she met,but her love of music will always be what I remember most. Her and Rob's dad Bob, were our most loyal and vocal fans. For over two decades, we always knew there was somebody who was listening, and that no matter how rough and wild the clubs we played got, they always had the sheer courage and tenacity to sit in the front row and cheer us on!
Her memorial was a shinning tribute to her love of music and to her loving family. Reverend Day joked that, with so much music played during the service,he would have a hard time getting a word in edge-wise, yet, in his service, he eloquently spoke about the amazing spirit Erma Jean possessed, as only a true, life long friend possibly could. He reminded all of her tremendous capacity to love, whether it was stray animals [she was a loyal supporter of the Max Fund Animal Shelter] or stray musicians, like myself. I feel blessed that Rob and I had two mothers, who never let a day go by with out letting us know we were truly loved. Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to all her friends, family and loved ones. She will always be "forever in our hearts"

Bill is Rob's old band mate from the 70's,great to see and hear him rocking all the low freqs! Our old buddy from the door,Ray [who's always a sharp dressed man ] sat in on [what else?] "Sharp Dressed Man" and rocked the drum set to the obvious delight of all the Silo patrons. Our leader Deb,was a little under the weather, but she still managed to stay all night after her shift, and danced up a storm! That's her on the right, you tell me,does anybody have more fun?
During load in at the Buffalo Rose last Friday,Robby the road warrior suffered a season ending muscle tear in his right arm.Look for Robby to be on the injured reserve list for at least 6 weeks! Get well soon,Lefty !!
THANKS TO GARY,NATE,THE WIZARD OF WATTS, BILL, CHEF BOY-R-JO, SMOKEY, OUR FRIENDS FROM OHIO, AND EVERYBODY ELSE AT THE VENERABLE "BEAR" ! AS I LOOKED AROUND THE ROOM AT ALL THE THOUSANDS OF NAMES CARVED IN THE WOOD, I MUSED....GEE EVERY ONE OF THOSE FOLKS HAD A KNIFE!HADN'T PLAYED THE BEAR SINCE THE MID SEVENTIES,THE BEAR MAY BE THE LAST CLUB IN COLORADO UNCHANGED THROUGH 3 DECADES! KEEP ROCKIN MIGHTY LITTLE BEAR!
BRIANNA'S GOING AWAY BASH AT THE SILO! Birthday's, reunions, welcomes, and Brianna's bon voyage party kept the crowd rocking till closing! Roby 's buddy from Arizona,Bill made the Silo scene, they were in a band in the seventies [Suspect] and hadn't seen each other for about 20 years...that would be about the time of Roby's last haircut... Brianna is heading to Pennsylvania,Danny Ray is always saying he went to Penn State,we have only recently found out it was the State Pen.Our leader Debb stayed all night and danced the night away!B2X would also like to send out a warm welcome to the newest member of the Silo gang,Sabrina! We would also at this time , like to apologize to her for calling her ,over the P.A., that thing about the teenage witch. We'll have a band meeting to insure it will never happen again! If our" what's new " page seems like an advertisement for the Silo,it is!!! We love this club, the food's great, friendly atmosphere, but I must say what makes this neighborhood bar so much fun is it's patrons!Support local live music, and join us the next time at the rocking Silo!!
BURNS TWICE "IN THE DOGHOUSE" FOR MONTH OF JANUARY!B2X headed to Lafayette and our friend Gary's killer rehearsal studio, Dog House Music for a month of practice and to learn a bunch of new tunes. We've updated our sets with about 30% new material for the new year! What a pleasant surprise the Dog House facility turned out to be! Gary's done a fantastic job outfitting the rehearsal space with first class gear, and recording equipment. There has never been easier guy to deal with than Gar, and Burns Twice highly recommends the Dog House to everyone who needs a safe and secure practice space with all the appointments!! Check out www.doghousemusic.com for details and support this business, that supports live music!
THANK YOU,THANK YOU ,THANK YOU!!! To all our fans, friends, and family, the boys from Burns Twice, want to wish everyone a happy New Year! This has been the rocking-est year ever! We also managed to release our latest CD, "Time Machine". We also performed the Bolder Boulder, and got a special mix of our song "Colfax of Life " on their CD,Bolder Boulder Bootleg Volume 2 [a "run" of 13,000 Cd's],plus we got on TEE-VEE!
Garageband.com fans took a fancy to our song "Not Last Night" and kept it on their charts for over 4 months and it was the song of the day, back in February! We believe their huge world-wide audience helped fuel the incredible web traffic on our web site,www.burnstwice.com ,[over 180,000 hits this year!!] and B2X fans downloaded " Not Last Night "from over 30 countries around the globe!
Perhaps my most guilty pleasure was hearing our song played on the Lewis and Floorwax and Kathy Lee morning show on KRFX 'the Fox!! Thanks to an off hand quip from Waxy-loo people were calling me"Hollering Gar" for months!!
Most importantly, our heartfelt thanks go out to fans, family and friends, for taking the time to see us live! They showed up in all kinds of weather, paid the cover and always came to rock! Their un-flagging devotion helped B2X open many new rooms for us to play and made every single show fun and memorable! The bar bizz is getting tough,so with out everyone's support of live entertainment,we and our club owner friends couldn't survive! So, thanks again, and stay tuned, Burns Twice promises to have some fun surprises for 2006!!!
NEW YEARS EVE AT THE SILO.....Thanks to Deb, and Suzanne for the best New Years ever! If you've never made the scene at the Silo, you're missing out on Longmont's best kept secret. We love playing there, the people are friendly, know how to party, and dance up a storm! The food is definitely way above your usual "bar fare" and service is unparalleled. This is one of the last great neighborhood bars. B2X returns to the Silo in February, but there are great bands there every Friday and Saturday night. Don't miss our palls, "Just Like You", when they rock the Silo!
